Nintendo’s Unsung Star / Edge

“Link’s Awakening, Super Mario 64, Ocarina Of Time, Majora’s Mask, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy: what’s the first name to pop into your head? It’s almost impossible not to think of Shigeru Miyamoto, but it’s hard to conceive any other name to attach to such a remarkable series of titles. Yet a man called Yoshiaki Koizumi has quietly toiled on each one of them, most recently as game director for Super Mario Galaxy.”

I can’t lie - I’ve been neglecting this website in the last couple of weeks, but then I’ve been incredibly busy with preparations for this year’s GDC (which includes IGF Mobile, of course) plus a new project which will be announced soon enough.

However, as they’ve just put it online, I should note that I’m in Edge’s February issue (issue 185) with this, a six page feature/interview with Yoshiaki Koizumi. I always say people should pick up the issue rather than just read it online, but I really mean it with this one - hats off to the graphic designers at Edge, the article looks amazing (especially the artist’s impression of Koizumi.)

And hey! If you pick up the issue you get to read my interview with Susan O’Connor that’s at the front, and you want to do that too, don’t you?
