Archive: 12th April 2006: Metroid Prime: Pinball / Eurogamer
Even with the (terrible) rumble pack included, Metroid Prime: Pinball is just such an incredible waste of money. Offhand, the legendarily tough Stu Campbell disagrees with me, and we have argued over how easy it is without any particular conclusion, but still: avoid this. I’d even recommend Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire for the GBA over it.

“Metroid Prime Pinball is a game that requires that you’re a bigger fan of the ‘Metroid Prime’ part of the title than you are of the ‘Pinball’ part. While fun can be had here, it’s from the mini-games and the experience rather than solid table designs – and that’s a cardinal sin in pinball.”
Terrible rumble pak? It seemed pretty awesome in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

Quiet, you!
I think it’s utter junk, because it’s loud and barely rumbles. It might have been good in Mario & Luigi, but I doubt it sits in your GBA slot at all times.

It did sit in the slot at all times until I got a DS Lite. Maybe if I get one of those mini-rumble paks!

Oh!
Oh well then. You win this round, Raroo!

Coming from the designers heritage (Mario Pinball Land) MP:Pinball is a huge step up. Now, it’s no Devil’s Crush, but it works well enough for some quick fun on the go, as well as having some standard “collection” videogame-y aspects.
Also, like Raroo, that crappy rumble pack is still in my DS. Though, that is now sitting on a shelf since I have a DS lite. But, yes, it makes your DS sound like it is being ripped apart on the inside.

Mario Pinball Land sure was a steaming pile of crap, that’s for sure.
Shaper, you kept your original DS when you got a DS lite?

I still have my original one, too. It’s now my wife’s DS.

Me and the missus share our current DS lite. Not that it’s getting much play, currently. Hmm!

Why isn’t it getting much play? You should get Jump Ultimate Stars! I almost missed my stop during my commute today because I was so consumed with building decks.

Because I’ve just kind of forgotten all about it in the excitement of the Wii and my new Xbox 360! I should get some new games for it…

I keep most of my systems when I get new ones, yeah. I can’t explain it either. Nostalgia.
Anyways, I’m giving it to my mom for Xmas this year with a few games (like Brain Training), so I won’t have it for much longer.
