Archive: 6th September, 2006: Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus / The Globe and Mail

“Despite the many flaws of Dirge of Cerberus, the obvious beauty and extreme ease of the title can make it an occasionally enjoyable short blast of bubblegum entertainment, if you’re willing to sit through (or skip) the cut scenes. Sadly, however, its hybrid design is far less than the sum of its parts, and this is a game that is ultimately forgettable.”

This game is, indeed, so forgettable that I didn’t even realize that my review had been posted until, like, today. I can blame that on the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s over now, at least, so expect (hopefully) regular posts from me from now on.

Dirge of Cerberus looks so, so nice but it’s so, so empty. Were it a person, it would be the most stunningly beautiful woman, but she would demand such restrictive, vanilla lovemaking that you’d find yourself impassively admiring the impressive reflective qualities of her eyes while you did the deed.
