TIFF 2006 Preview: Wavelengths, Short Cuts Canada / Torontoist

There should be a couple of these capsule review posts each day, including the morning the festival starts on the 7th, but after that I’m not sure if I’ll let the workblog go quiet and just concentrate on linking it all later. But while I have the energy I might as well get linkin’.

TIFF 2006 Preview: Wavelengths
I’m willing to admit I don’t know much about avant-garde filmmaking; so while trying to review a selection from the experimental programme of TIFF might seem foolish I rather enjoyed it. I very much enjoyed one of the most experimental, 3 Minuten, and was entirely turned off by the most conventional (Roads of Kiarostami.)

Reviews of several of the shorts on show at this year’s TIFF. Top marks goes to Jamie Travis’ The Saddest Boy in the World, one of the best short films I’ve ever seen.
